The world’s2nd richest man is donating over $30 billion to the Gates foundation. He wants to give a way most of his fortune before he dies. I think he is doing to right thing, put it to good use before it is too late.

Burning for the long haul

I have discs that were burned when the first CD-writers came out and they still work fine. There are cheap discs that will not last as long as others and there is an increased chance of bad discs but I haven’t ever had a problem with them just not working after a couple of years.

Bill Gates Stepping Down in 2008

Wow, Bill Gates is stepping down from his day to day role in 2008 to work full time on his foundation. Well, If I had that kind of money I would have stepped down long ago.

Microsoft Announces Plans for July 2008 Transition for Bill Gates: Working full time at Microsoft through June 2008, Gates then will continue as chairman and advisor while increasing Foundation efforts; Ray Ozzie and Craig Mundie to assume expanded roles.

The more the MPAA publicizes their attempts at shutting down torrent tracking sites, the more people will hear about the sites. When the sites come back online, which they inevitably do, more people than ever visit the sites for free or cheap downloads. They are shooting themselves in the foot, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
